Summary
We're looking for a compassionate, empathetic and motivated individual to join our Reflect team as a Project Worker.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist trauma-informed service working across Gwent: Newport, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire and Torfaen.
Reflect works alongside women and their partners who have experienced the permanent removal of a child from their care. We recognise that every parent's story is unique and that experiences of loss, trauma and adversity can have a profound impact on wellbeing, relationships and future opportunities.
Our approach is relationship-based, strengths-focused and led by the parent. We create safe, trusting spaces where parents can explore their experiences, identify what matters most to them and take steps towards the future they want for themselves. Through emotional and practical support, we help parents build on their strengths, develop confidence, strengthen connections and access opportunities within their communities.
What will the role involve?
- Develop positive, trusting and respectful relationships with parents.
- Work alongside Reflect Practitioners to deliver trauma-informed and strengths-based support led by parents.
- Encourage participation in community-based activities that promote confidence, wellbeing and social connection.
- Accompany parents to appointments and support them to access services, community activities, education and employment opportunities.
- Contribute to group activities, peer support opportunities and service development.
- Apply safeguarding responsibilities confidently and appropriately.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working alongside people and believes in their capacity for growth, change and recovery.
- Experience of supporting adults, families or individuals facing adversity or complex life circumstances.
- Experience of building positive relationships with people who may have experienced trauma, loss, stigma or difficult relationships with services.
- Knowledge of the impact that child removal, grief, loss and trauma can have on individuals.
- Experience of supporting people to access services and opportunities within their communities.
- A sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries.
