We are recruiting for a Phlebotomist who wishes to join our busy Phlebotomy team at #TeamIOWNHS. The Phlebotomy team provides a phlebotomy service to the hospital wards and the walk-in clinic. Applicants ideally will have recent / previous experience in phlebotomy. Refresher training can be arranged if required and personal development is actively encouraged.
As a Phlebotomist you would be part of the phlebotomy team working within the wards and clinic collecting blood samples. You should be an effective communicator, have a keen eye for detail and be able to work under pressure. At the present time the department operates between 07:30 and 16:30 Monday to Friday plus weekend shifts. Successful candidates will be required to work flexibly across all shifts and any future potential areas where phlebotomy is required.

You will contribute to the provision of a high quality, phlebotomy service for patients on the Isle of Wight by obtaining blood samples from patients through venepuncture and ensuring that blood samples are labelled correctly in preparation for being forwarded to laboratories. The collection of blood by venepuncture will take place in designated areas i.e. the Phlebotomy Outpatients Departments at St. Mary’s and the wards at St. Mary’s Hospital. However, phlebotomists may also be asked to attend other Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust properties in the performance of their duties.
