We are recruiting for a Healthcare Science Assistant in Respiratory and Sleep who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards “great people, great place”.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team. You will be working across the Respiratory Outpatients and the Community Diagnostic Hub which opens in 2024. This post will require flexible working with the Community Hub operating 7 days a week.

We are looking for someone who is organised, flexible, able to use initiative and enjoys working in a team. You will need to be friendly and highly motivated with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Experience in working in a healthcare environment with respiratory knowledge is desirable.

The role includes basic lung function and sleep diagnostic testing. Other roles include stock management, cleaning of equipment and daily administration tasks. Full training will be provided.

As a minimum, a good standard of secondary education or level 2 healthcare certificate is required.

To support the Clinical Physiologists in the delivery of agreed standards of care to all patients. Provide administrative support for the Clinical Physiologist. To support respiratory clinics in the need of spirometry and inhaler management and support sleep clinics including sleep studies and yearly CPAP clinics. To ensure that relationships and behaviour are managed in line with the Behaviour Framework competencies.

The Respiratory Physiologist Assistant will work within the limits of their competence for respiratory testing including spirometry and sleep studies. To provide support to the Clinical Respiratory/Sleep Physiologist in the delivery of agreed standards of care to all patients, providing role-specific skills including spirometry, sleep studies, yearly CPAP reviews, basic life support, and production of reliable and accurate data.

Required qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
