Are you a qualified Joiner specialising in commercial fire door installation and maintenance, looking for a top-tier rate on a long-term project in Tyneside? Search Consultancy is recruiting an experienced Fire Door Joiner for a high-profile, ongoing contract in Newcastle upon Tyne. Offering a premier rate of £26.00 per hour (CIS), this role provides excellent site continuity and steady hours for a precision tradesperson with proven expertise in certified passive fire protection and timber fire door assemblies.

If you hold a valid Blue or Gold CSCS card, have deep knowledge of BM TRADA, FIRAS, or Certified installation standards, and want reliable top-market pay with a leading main contractor, we want to hear from you.

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Fire Door Installation & Upgrade: Fitting new FD30, FD60, and FD90 fire door sets, frames, and architraves, as well as upgrading existing assemblies to compliant fire safety standards.
  • Precision Hardware & Seals: Mortising and fitting certified ironmongery (intumescent hinges, door closers, panic hardware, locks), and correctly installing intumescent cold smoke seals and drop seals.
  • Gapping & Tolerances: Ensuring precise frame-to-leaf tolerances (1mm-3mm rule) and correctly sealing perimeter gaps using approved fire-rated foam, mastic, and hardwood packers.
  • Remedial Maintenance: Remedying non-compliant doors, adjusting hinges, re-hung leaves, and replacing damaged componentry to pass strict compliance inspections.
  • Quality & QA Logging: Working closely with site inspectors to log completed works, ensure full traceability, and maintain pristine standards across all installations.

Requirements & Qualifications must possess:

  • CSCS Card: A valid Blue (Skilled Worker) or Gold (Advanced Craft) CSCS card in Carpentry & Joinery (NVQ Level 2/3 in Fire Door Maintenance/Installation or FIRAS/BM TRADA accreditation is highly advantageous).
  • Trade Expertise: Proven track record specializing in commercial timber fire door installations and remedial upgrades.
  • Tools & Kit: Full professional joinery kit (110V/cordless saws, plunge saws, routers, jigs, mortisers, hand tools) and standard 5-point PPE.
  • Transport: Reliable transport to commute to site locations in Newcastle upon Tyne daily.
  • Right to Work: Valid proof of right to work in the UK.
