The Enforcement Directorate plays a key role in improving road safety and ensuring compliance across Great Britain. The Strategic Traffic Management Office (STMO) leads DVSA’s connection to the National ANPR Service (NAS), using data and intelligence to support effective enforcement activity. Working with partners including the Home Office, police forces, HMRC, DVLA and other law enforcement agencies, the team develops innovative targeting capabilities that support roadside enforcement, MOT compliance, operator licensing, and fraud investigations. STMO is at the forefront of enforcement transformation, combining technology, intelligence, and partnership working to deliver better outcomes for road safety and regulatory compliance.
This is a challenging and high-profile role at the forefront of enforcement technology and innovation. You will lead the development and implementation of ANPR capabilities, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with data privacy requirements and support significant business change. Drawing on your enforcement experience and knowledge of intelligence processes, you will translate emerging technology into practical enforcement solutions, helping to strengthen DVSA’s targeting capability and improve operational effectiveness across a range of enforcement activities.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Lead a small team including the STMO on establishing the capability of NAS. This is exploring the “art of the possible” with this powerful tool.
- A key member of the enforcement transformation team development of new products to enhance existing ways of working.
- Identify and build new enforcement products for example enabling remote enforcement in schemes.
- Refresh of DVSA staff use of ANPR system.
- Lead on change management for improved utilisation of ANPR to support NAS and wider DVSA use.
- The post will represent DVSA with key stakeholders at a high-level including Home Office, 44 Police Forces, other Law Enforcement agencies (HMRC, Border Force, DWP etc) and non-enforcement key stakeholders (HE, TfL, DfT etc).
