As a Multi Skilled Roofer, a typical day might include
- To undertake all types of joinery/roofing works, as set out the joinery & roofing skills matrix.
Works will involve both emergency and scheduled responsive repairs as well as more extensive renovation works to properties.
- Undertake, ground works, general construction, plastering/wall finishing in an organised and controlled manner, both in isolation and in conjunction with other trades.
- Be part of this new team to help us grow, identifying opportunities to deliver a better service and work differently
- Delivery of a high-quality service to customers; including a range of repairs,
- Ensure that the correct materials are at the right place at the right time to deliver what’s required and provide a seamless service for our customers
- Work unsupervised in occupied and unoccupied properties and ensuring tools and equipment are used safely
- To liaise with customers and the wider Acis team to ensure jobs are completed on time, to budget and to a high standard
- Ensure all equipment, plant, materials and vehicles are handled correctly, well maintained and securely looked after, including regular checks for road-worthiness on vehicles for which you are responsible
- Carry out work activities in line with policies, procedures, risk assessments, high quality standards and in accordance with Building Regulations
- To acquire and maintain a full tool kit to enable all reasonable duties to be undertaken
- Adhere to health and safety Regulations with regard to the safety of yourself, other workers, customers and the general public
- Using ladders, Roof ladders and step ladders where needed
- Lifting of materials and component part, tool kits, ladders, power tools
- Fitting of materials and component parts in confined spaces and often in awkward postures
- The working conditions can vary and on occasion. You will also need to work in all weather conditions
- Lone working with the public and in customers’ homes
- Be customer focused, showing flexibility in working hours to ensure we provide a service that meets the needs of our customers
- Undertake further training and qualifications as the job role and changing legislation demand
- Generally, work to a programme of tasks as identified by your line manager but this may be interrupted to deal with emergency situations
The must haves
- You will have demonstrable experience within the construction industry with a multi skilled approach across a number of trades with a focus on roofing
- A full UK Driving Licence and CSCS card
- You will have a great understanding of the construction industry, in particular the building trade, including legislation, Health and Safety, manual handling, working at heights and so on
- Basic IT skills and experienced user of Microsoft applications, using mobile a devices to find data and documentation and to record information
- You will have the ability to plan ahead to ensure that all jobs can be completed on time, first time
- Resilience. Working in social housing is a challenging but rewarding career, you’ll be helping to bring real change to our customer’s lives

- You will have a recognised apprenticeship or trade qualification (eg City & Guilds, NVQ level 2, or equivalent) in Roofing/joinery
- Ability to carry out secondary building maintenance skills such as joinery, carpentry and plastering, alongside wider maintenance activities.
- Understanding and appreciation of the needs of older, disabled and vulnerable individuals and households
- You will be able to demonstrate commitment to customer focus and high-quality delivery service
- You will possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to work under own initiative

- You’ll be adept at change, having got hands on experience living and breathing new ways of working and knowing how to bring your colleagues along for the experience
- You have the knowledge and are qualified to undertake asbestos removal (non-licensed) or willing to be trained
