Roles that require PVG Membership:

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role:

The purpose of this role is to deliver a high-quality business support and administration service to the Service, whilst also completing a qualification. We have an exciting opportunity for a young person to join Aberdeen City Council, Children’s Social Work Service as a Modern Apprentice. The post will initially be based at Quarry Centre, Cummings Park Crescent, Aberdeen, predominantly providing support to the teams supporting kinship and foster carers and adopters, as well as the Family Time Hub, whilst also gaining a qualification.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • Good written/numerical skills gained through either Standard Grades/National 4 qualification(s)

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Self-motivated team player
