This is an exciting time to join Milton Keynes University Hospital. As one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities, Milton Keynes is expanding rapidly, and MKUH is investing in the future of local healthcare through the New Hospital Programme, MK View estate development plans, and major improvements to clinical capacity and patient pathways.

Our Pharmacy service has already benefited from significant investment, including a fully refurbished Pharmacy department, a state-of-the-art Aseptic Unit, and a new outpatient dispensary positioned at the heart of the hospital’s main entrance and outpatient department. We are now looking for a commercially minded and patient-focused Superintendent Pharmacist to lead, develop and grow this important outpatient pharmacy service.

This role offers a genuine opportunity to shape a developing service in a forward-looking acute hospital. You will ensure the service meets all regulatory and professional requirements while building a high-quality, accessible and sustainable outpatient pharmacy offer for patients, visitors and staff. You will bring strong community pharmacy experience, sound clinical judgement, and the confidence to work closely with prescribers and wider clinical teams to optimise medicines use, deliver value for money and improve patient outcomes.

In return, you will join a supportive, ambitious Pharmacy team at a hospital that is preparing for a once-in-a-generation period of growth. With plans for a new hospital facility, expanded maternity and children’s services, additional elective surgical capacity, a new imaging centre and wider site improvements, this is a chance to develop your leadership skills while contributing to the future of healthcare in one of the country’s most dynamic cities.

Milton Keynes University Hospital, in proud partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital committed to advancing patient care through cutting-edge research and education. With a “Good” rating from the CQC and significant investment underway, this is an exciting time to join our team and grow your career.

As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity, and Paediatrics. As the population of our city and surrounding areas continues to grow rapidly, we are expanding and enhancing our facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for all our communities.

We are also proud to offer a growing portfolio of specialist services. In January 2025 we opened our state-of-the-art Radiotherapy Centre, bringing advanced cancer treatment closer to home. Our services also include neonatology, specialist surgical care, and a wide range of diagnostics, supported by the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Whitehouse Health Centre. We have just opened the Oak Wards - a new ward block featuring two 24-bed wards. Further investment is underway, including the recently approved Women and Children’s Centre, set to open by 2030.

NHS Staff Survey: Our Compassionate Culture and Leadership scores reflect a workplace where kindness, respect, and empathy are the norm—not the exception.
