At FCDO Services we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings and courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on. In our world, it all matters.

Our Technology and Operations team is at the forefront of digital solutions and services for FCDO and Government. They provide best in-class solutions for our clients, helping to shape and support a data driven future for UK government. Whether it’s creating bespoke, secure software, offering programme and application support or moving an entire embassy’s servers to a Cloud platform. No matter the task, they are on hand to support. Join them in this important role and you’ll have the opportunity to lead them on the next stage of our exciting journey.

When you join our team as a QAT Analyst, it will be your task to design and execute test plans, and carry out exploratory testing as part of a broader risk-based approach to our important work. Collaborating with colleagues in delivery teams, and determining the testability of functional and non-functional requirements, you’ll use all your domain and business knowledge and take an operational overview when analysing the system under test. We will also expect you to create relevant documentation and engage with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve agreement on the most efficient test solutions.

Always prepared to identify and manage any defects that arise, you’ll understand and manage the relevant constraints and limitations, and support Go-Live and Production deployment activities. Committed to keeping up-to-speed with the latest developments in the field of QAT, and ready to use this knowledge to provide advice and guidance to senior colleagues and other team members, you should also be willing to be on call for up to 7 days per month to support the ‘out of hours’ delivery of the services we provide.

To be a success in this important role you should hold Agile and ITIL Foundation level qualifications or relevant experience, ISTQB Foundation level certification, and well developed knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure setup. Highly analytical and creative with a challenging and enquiring mind, you should also have a Level 3 Information Communication Technician or equivalent qualification in IT or Computer Science.

Capable of designing appropriate tests to ensure business and operational requirements are met to fulfil final test solutions, you should have proven experience of functional, system integration, regression, non-functional, user acceptance and operational acceptance testing. In addition, we’ll expect you to possess good knowledge of Microsoft SQL and Virtual Machine management tools such as VMWare. A practical understanding of stress, load, soak and performance testing would be desirable, as would an understanding of continuous integration, continuous delivery, networking and test automation toolsets.

But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Security Check (SC) clearance.

The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
