Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a University Teaching Hospital, conducting research and teaching on site to improve patient care. The eye clinic is an offsite facility in central Milton Keynes, featuring a busy department with clinics, procedure rooms, and theatre on site.

An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Sister, who is expected to have strong ophthalmic skills and a sound knowledge base of ophthalmology. You will be part of a friendly, supportive nursing team providing excellent nursing care. If you are enthusiastic, dynamic, patient-focused, a team player with a good work ethic, we would like to hear from you. Informal visits are strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide effective, professional and managerial leadership to staff.
  • To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care.
  • To supervise and develop the knowledge and skills of junior staff.
  • To initiate/facilitate developments in nursing in partnership with the ward manager.
  • To be the ward representative in the absence of the ward manager.
  • To work autonomously within their scope of professional conduct and in line with Trust policies.
  • To assist the Senior Sister/charge nurse in the review of nursing practice and service delivery.
  • Provide clinical expertise in all the subspecialties.
  • To role model high standards of nursing care and professionalism.
