We're looking for a skilled and motivated HVAC Engineer to join our engineering team based at Santander's HQ in Milton Keynes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced, critical environment, delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and ensuring HVAC systems operate safely and efficiently. The role will also on occasion provide support to other Santander sites.

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems, supporting the wider engineering team, and ensuring all work is completed to the highest safety and compliance standards. You'll also work closely with subcontractors, contribute to continuous improvement, and help maintain a reliable and efficient working environment across the Milton Keynes site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Support the engineering team in delivering a high-quality maintenance service.
  • Monitor and interact with the Building Management System (BMS).
  • Complete and maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Promote and follow best engineering and maintenance practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Support colleagues and contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Take a proactive approach to fault finding and problem solving.
  • Review permits to work and ensure safe working practices are followed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of site emergency procedures.

About You

We're looking for an engineer with strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality maintenance services.

Essential Qualifications

You will hold:

  • City & Guilds 2079 Safe Handling of Refrigerants (or CITB J11 equivalent)
  • And one of the following:
    • NVQ Level 2 or 3 / City & Guilds in Commercial Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
    • NVQ Level 2 or 3 / City & Guilds in Heating & Ventilation
    • NVQ Level 2 or 3 / City & Guilds in Heating & Ventilation Service & Maintenance

Experience & Skills

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in Air Conditioning.
  • Additional qualifications or experience in another discipline, such as Electrical.
  • Experience of chiller and heat pump systems.
  • Experience delivering planned and reactive building services maintenance.
  • Previous experience working within a critical environment is desirable but not essential.
  • A sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including risk assessments and method statements.
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach to engineering and maintenance.
