Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Care
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day leadership and management of a children’s residential home in Milton Keynes.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring children and young people receive safe, nurturing and high-quality residential childcare, particularly those with emotional, behavioural and complex needs.
They will support the Registered Manager with safeguarding, staff management, regulatory compliance and quality assurance, helping create a positive environment where children and young people can thrive and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the effective day-to-day running of the children’s home.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
- Lead, motivate, supervise and develop the residential care team.
- Lead shifts and oversee staffing levels and rotas.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
- Ensure high-quality, child-centred care is provided in line with individual care plans.
- Support care planning, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
- Promote positive behaviour and support young people with challenging or complex needs.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation.
- Ensure safeguarding procedures, policies and regulatory requirements are followed.
- Support compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted requirements.
- Contribute to audits, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.
- Build effective relationships with families, social workers, local authorities and other professionals.
- Participate in the management on-call rota and work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
