The midwifery Hub receptionist will work as a key member of the midwifery and wider clinical teams in the Maternity Hub service. The focus of the post will be to provide admin and clerical support to the Midwifery Team and Community Hub with the use of PAS, BadgerNet and other electronic recording systems to manage referrals for pregnancy care including dealing with telephone enquiries, administrative duties, booking and cancelling appointments to facilitate the smooth running of the antenatal and postnatal clinics.
The post holder will need to possess excellent written, computer and interpersonal skills. Much of this role will encompass a comprehensive range of clerical functions requiring the post holder to demonstrate particular attention to detail to ensure a high standard of service and care is provided to women. The post holder will act as liaison between the midwifery team and other members of the clinical and administration teams and where required will produce numerical and non-clinical data in pregnancy.
Deals with routine enquiries to the service from referrers and women in a pleasant and helpful manner. Answering the intercom doorbell system and direct antenatal and postnatal women and their families appropriately in a polite and welcoming manner to the Community Midwifery Hub. Take and process telephone calls in accordance with trust policy and procedures. Manage answerphone messages within agreed timeframes passing on relevant and accurate information to others working in the maternity clinical and admin teams.
Using the electronic systems available, books outpatient and inpatient appointments within an agreed timeframe that meets service standards. Communicates the information to women, either directly or electronically via appointment letter and ensures any subsequent amendments and updates are shared.
