Make a Meaningful Difference in Mobility and Independence Join us as a Clinical Leader for the BSW Wheelchair Service and play a pivotal role in shaping how people across our communities access safe, effective and personcentred wheelchair provision.
Your leadership will directly influence the quality of assessment, postural management and rehabilitation support we provide ensuring every individual receives equipment that truly meets their needs.
In this strategic role, you'll lead clinical governance and uphold high standards in line with ICB criteria, national guidance and commissioning requirements.
We welcome applications from therapists with strong skills in clinical leadership, assessment, rehabilitation, risk management and postural care.
You do not need prior wheelchair-service experience – we offer structured development to help you confidently grow into this specialist area.

The role is based within the BSW region and requires travel across multiple community sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the clinical lead for wheelchair and seating pathways, setting and maintaining high clinical standards.
- Oversee governance activity, incident review and quality assurance to ensure safe, effective and personcentred care.
- Provide specialist advice and support on complex cases, using strong assessment and reasoning skills. Promote safe, consistent clinical decision-making across the service.
- Shape, develop and evaluate clinical pathways in collaboration with operational and clinical colleagues.
Support good governance, effective patient flow, equitable access and strong service performance across BSW.
Foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative team culture.
- Support and develop the clinical team through supervision, coaching, competency building and coordination of training.
Champion reflective practice and create a psychologically safe environment where staff can learn and grow.
- Lead quality improvement activity, including audits, service reviews and data-informed decision-making.
Promote evidence-informed practice, support innovation and drive continuous improvements in safety, effectiveness and user experience.

Essential Education, Qualifications & Training
Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy. HCPC registration and membership of the relevant professional body (e. g., RCOT or CSP).
Experience & Skills
- Understanding of clinical governance, including audit, risk management and education.
- Experience delivering a wide range of interventions for people with complex needs.
- Confident use of goal setting and outcome measures.
- Up-to-date, evidence-based clinical knowledge.
- Skills in resource management and strong organisational awareness.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Desirable Education, Qualifications & Training
- Additional qualifications related to postural management.
- Awareness of current Government initiatives influencing clinical practice.
- Understanding of the clinical governance agenda and commissioning processes.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification.
Experience & Skills
- Experience providing supervision, mentoring or coaching to junior staff or assistants.
- Evidence of an innovative, flexible approach to care delivery and service organisation.
