We are launching a brand-new Surgical Assessment Unit at Charing Cross Hospital and are looking for an exceptional Band 8A Matron to lead this flagship service. To provide professional leadership and clinical role modelling to inspire the nursing team in the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU). To provide a clear focus for clinical leadership, providing a highly visible and authoritative presence, in order to facilitate the provision of high quality care, ensuring that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. To provide assurance to the Directorate Triumvirate that high quality patient focused care which positively contributes to the patient’s overall experience is being delivered.

To develop and embed procedures, guidelines and protocols to support the development of a safe and efficient service. To monitor the level of service provided by the support services through regular audit and take remedial action as necessary. To take responsibility for clinical standards of care, monitoring of quality indicators, infection control prevention and patient experience. To foster a culture of incident reporting and responding to incidents, reflection, equal opportunity, openness, mutual respect between the professions and professional development within the unit. To support the development of nursing research and audit. To ensure that mechanisms are in place for the collection and submission of appropriate data in respect to service delivery. To support the achievement of care and service delivery targets.
