Hays are working in partnership with a well-established business based in Market Harborough to recruit an Accounts Payable Clerk on an initial 2-month temporary contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, supportive finance team and gain experience within a busy accounts function. There is potential for the assignment to be extended beyond the initial period depending on business requirements. The role offers a hybrid working pattern of 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
Your new role
As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will support the finance team with the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments. Duties will include:
- Processing high volumes of purchase invoices
- Matching, batching and coding invoices
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries
- Managing supplier payment runs
- Handling invoice approval processes
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate supplier records
- Assisting with month-end accounts payable activities
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc administrative duties
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience within an Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger or Finance Assistant role in the UK
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload
- Confident communication skills when dealing with suppliers and colleagues
- Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Immediate availability or short notice preferred
