JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to play a key role in improving productivity, reducing waste and supporting quality across manufacturing operations. As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop, improve and standardise manufacturing processes, support New Product Introduction and help deliver Continuous Improvement projects across the business. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Production and cross-functional teams, using manufacturing data, Lean tools and structured problem-solving methods to improve efficiency, cost, delivery and operational performance.

DUTIES

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and eliminate waste to improve cost, quality, delivery and efficiency across manufacturing operations
  • Support NPI Projects: Lead Continuous Improvement projects and support New Product Introduction activity across the business
  • Analyse Manufacturing Data: Review manufacturing data and performance metrics to identify and implement process improvements
  • Maintain Process Documentation: Develop and maintain Standard Work, process maps and Bills of Materials
  • Optimise Production Processes: Improve manufacturing processes, layouts, tooling, jigs, fixtures and build sequences
  • Provide Problem-Solving Support: Support Production teams with structured problem-solving and practical engineering input
  • Improve Manufacturing Standards: Drive standardisation and Design for Manufacture improvements across products and processes
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Production and cross-functional colleagues to deliver operational improvements
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing: Champion Lean Manufacturing principles while maintaining high standards of Health, Safety and Environment

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret manufacturing data and performance metrics
  • Practical, hands-on engineering approach with sound manufacturing judgement
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to improve processes, efficiency and cost
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive and accountable, with the ability to work independently and deliver results
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and best practice
  • Degree or Level 6 qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • CAD experience would be desirable
