At Switch Up, we provide individual, life-changing support to young people in communities affected by crime and violence. We do this through sport, mentoring and personal development, with the aim of improving mental and physical wellbeing and giving young people the skills, confidence and motivation to realise their true potential. We engage young people through our boxing gym and other sport, providing mentoring, counselling, education and personal development to develop champions in and out of the ring.

This is an exciting time for Switch Up and, as a growing organisation, we are looking for an upbeat, passionate and committed Learning and Engagement Mentor who shares our values. As a Learning and Engagement Mentor, you will deliver high-quality Alternative Provision through education, mentoring and personalised support, helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Working closely with schools, families and partner agencies, you will build trusted relationships, deliver engaging one-to-one and small group interventions, and support young people to progress into education, employment or training. The young people we work with have often experienced significant challenges in education and life. Many have been excluded from mainstream education, have social, emotional or mental health needs, or require a flexible, trauma-informed approach to help them re‑engage with learning and achieve their potential.

You will be a positive role model who can inspire, motivate and empower young people. You will have experience supporting children and young people in education, youth work, mentoring or Alternative Provision settings, with the resilience, creativity and empathy needed to make a lasting difference.

Working within our Alternative Provision team, you will deliver personalised interventions, develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Intervention Plans (IPs), facilitate workshops, monitor progress and contribute to a safe, engaging learning environment where every young person feels valued and supported.
