Reflec Teen is a community organisation based in Moston, Manchester, working with children, young people and families across some of the city's most disadvantaged communities.

We provide inclusive opportunities that support children, young people and families to develop confidence, skills, wellbeing and positive relationships, while strengthening community connections and celebrating cultural identity.

Heritage: Thread of Time, a cultural heritage project that brings generations together to explore, record, celebrate and preserve African heritage, stories, traditions and lived experiences.

About the Role

As we enter the next phase of the project, we are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and culturally aware Project Coordinator to help us deliver an exciting programme of activities and ensure that the voices and experiences of our community remain at the heart of the project.

The role will involve coordinating and supporting

• Cultural heritage interviews and oral history sessions.
• Intergenerational Learning Circles.
• Heritage workshops and community activities.
• Engagement with African elders, parents, children and young people.
• Planning, organising and coordinating The African Food Festival and cultural attires fashion show.
• Production of high-quality digital content, including photographs, videos and digital heritage packs.
• Preparation of materials for exhibition at Manchester Museum.
• The final project celebration and sharing event.
• Monitoring, evaluation and collection of participant feedback.
• Project communications and promotion across social media and other platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Coordination
• Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the next phase of the Thread of Time project.
• Develop and maintain a clear programme of activities and delivery timetable.
• Liaise with facilitators, volunteers, cultural contributors, venues and partners.
• Coordinate logistics for interviews, Learning Circles, workshops and events.
• Ensure activities are delivered safely, inclusively and to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Support the management and Steering Group with project updates and planning.
• Community Engagement
• Build positive relationships with local residents and community groups.
• Engage African elders, families, children and young people in project activities.
• Create welcoming spaces where participants feel confident sharing their stories, experiences and cultural knowledge.
• Support intergenerational learning and encourage participants to learn from one another.
• Work sensitively with people from different African cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Heritage Documentation

The Coordinator will support the collection and organisation of heritage material, including:

• Oral history interviews.
• Personal stories and memories.
• Cultural traditions and practices.
• Family histories and migration stories.
• Recipes, food traditions and celebrations.
• Music, dance, language, proverbs and storytelling.
• Photographs and video recordings.

The Coordinator will ensure that information is collected respectfully and appropriately.

Digital Content and Exhibition

Working alongside Reflec Teen's management team, the Coordinator will

• Help identify stories and content suitable for publication.
• Coordinate photography and filming.
• Organise digital photographs, video footage and interview recordings.
• Support the development of high-quality digital heritage packs.
• Assist with preparing content for exhibition at Manchester Museum.
• Support the development of promotional content for Reflec Teen's website and social media.
• Monitoring and Evaluation

The Coordinator will support the internal monitoring of the project and work closely with the external evaluator.

This will include

• Recording participant numbers and demographic information.
• Gathering participant feedback.
• Supporting pre- and post-activity questionnaires where appropriate.
• Capturing participant stories and reflections.
• Recording case studies and examples of impact.
• Maintaining accurate monitoring records.
• Supporting the external evaluator to access relevant information.

Contributing to project reviews and the final evaluation report.
