On behalf of our public sector client, I'm on the lookout for a Cyber Security Consultant with some experience in a cyber role looking to expand on their skill set across multiple cyber and infosec domains.

With the support of the Cyber Security Manager and other security team members, this role will touch on IAM, SIEM, EDR and vulnerability management tool tweaking, integrating security into project life cycles, GRC certifications, 3rd party risk and assurance and more.

I'm looking for candidates with a self-driven, go-getter personality who are keen to progress their security careers within a supportive and forward-thinking environment with colleagues all pulling in the same direction.

What this role involves

This role is expansive in terms of the areas you'll be getting involved with.

We are not expecting candidates to be experts across all of these fields, however, the more the better:

  • Review, develop, monitor and mature the SIEM, EDR, email security and vulnerability platforms
  • Support ongoing development and monitoring of IDS/IPS, detection and response solutions and other threat detection systems.
  • Working with in-house developers and providing some advice on SDLC security
  • Performing vulnerability scanning and remediation
  • Working with the organisation's managed service provider and helping to manage alerts coming through
  • Working with governance colleagues on the Cyber Essentials certification
  • Helping the organisation with 3rd party risk management and assurance

What I'm looking for

  • Experience in a cybersecurity or infrastructure security role.
  • Experience of commonplace SIEM and vulnerability management tools
  • Strong knowledge of detection and response solutions, such as EDR, XDR and MDR.
  • Knowledge of how to integrate security into project lifecycles
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to document findings and engage stakeholders clearly.
  • Working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
  • Comfortable investigating incidents and proposing technical and procedural improvements.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of email security gateway technologies.
  • A salary up to £46,000
  • 50% hybrid working structure
  • On-site gym
  • Compressed hours and flexible working offering
