Are you kind, patient, and full of energy? Do you enjoy the outdoors, animals, and helping someone live life to the fullest? If so, this could be the perfect role for you!

I’m an active, fun-loving 19-year-old young woman who enjoys being busy and making the most of every day. I have a learning disability, autism and ADHD, and I’m looking for a Personal Assistant who can help me gain more independence while keeping me safe and supported. I love walking my dogs, running, swimming, being outside in all weathers, and chilling out watching TV or playing Xbox. Music is a big part of my life, and I’d love to go to more gigs and meet up with friends — that’s where you come in!

You’ll support me in social situations, help me access clubs and community activities, and encourage me to build my confidence and independence. Some of your role will include helping me with day-to-day living skills like shopping and cooking, but it’s just as important that you enjoy having fun and joining in with the things I love. This role may be shared between two people, as I’ll need support after college during the evenings and during the day at weekends. Outside of term time, I will require support in the daytime to access the community and support me with living skills.

You’ll need to be reliable, professional and friendly, with experience or training in supporting young people with special educational needs. You should be neurodivergent-affirming, forward-thinking, and patient, with a good understanding of how to support emotional regulation and energy management. It’s important that you’re pet friendly, physically fit, and happy to be outdoors in all kinds of weather — the dogs won’t walk themselves!

A clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential to help me get out and about in the community and to clubs. Due to vulnerability, we do require these roles to be done by a female. If you’re someone who can bring positivity, understanding, and a sense of fun to each day, I’d love to hear from you.

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required. If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives.
