We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary maintenance team responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide range of services throughout the University Estate. You will be a member of our Maintenance Support Team who operate as part of the Estates Trades team assisting with the provision of general reactive and planned preventative maintenance work tasks within the University portfolio of buildings.
You will undertake a variety of diverse maintenance tasks supporting our trades teams (electrical, plumbing, painting, joinery activities). At all times, you will be required to work to a high standard and ensure strict compliance with health and safety legislation.
You should have a good general education, with ideally a city and guild/NVQ qualification in a building/engineering discipline, relevant to the role. You should have extensive and relevant experience within a general maintenance environment and have a willingness to learn new and specialist skills.
You should be flexible in your approach to work, have excellent communication skills, be highly motivated, have a helpful manner and possess a clean driving licence which entitles you to drive a mini bus up to 9 seat capacity. The ability to cope well when under pressure and the ability to demonstrate a flexible approach without supervision is essential. You should be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
