Chemotherapy Staff Nurse | Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust

Chartwell Unit is an 8 Chair Chemotherapy unit delivering excellent care to haematology patients requiring SACT and supportive treatments throughout their treatment journey. We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic SACT trained nurse who will work as part of the nursing team in supporting the unit manager to run an effective and safe unit. You should be able to combine autonomy with team working sensitivity and professionalism.

You will be expected to adopt a holistic, pro-active and dynamic approach, being responsible for the delivery of a high standard of care and service to the patients. You will in association with your colleagues be required to support patients and their carers on all aspects of their care, be they newly diagnosed, or being treated with palliative intent. You must be SACT trained to apply for this position. Non-SACT trained candidates will be considered at band 5.

The Trust operates from two primary sites; our new state of the art Tunbridge Wells Hospital, Maidstone Hospital is the home to the Kent Oncology Centre, one of the leading cancer treatment centres in the southeast. The cancer centre treats over 7,000 new patients a year from Kent and East Sussex, and was among the first nationally to benefit from a £4.7 million new treatment system that targets and treats tumours with pinpoint accuracy. The Centre is highly regarded for the excellent care it provides and for its work with major pharmaceutical companies in conducting vital research to support the development of new cancer treatments.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date has been agreed. Following your corporate induction, you will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
