About the role:

  • To assist with the preparation, cooking, serving or delivering of food in a Powys County Council premise, by efficient use of resources.
  • Compliance with the Food Safety Act, nutritional standards as per Welsh Government Healthy Schools in Wales and all relative procedures, policies and legislation.
  • Promotion of the Catering Service through promotional events and customer awareness.
  • Cover for the cook during their absence.

About you:

  • You must have an excellent understanding of food safety.
  • Have a good understanding of the importance of food control.
  • Ability to obtain Food Safety Certificate level 2 is essential.
  • Ability to undertake the physical demands of the position.
  • Ability to respond to peaks in workload, meet deadlines and deliver the required service.

What you will do:

  • Assist with preparation of meals that are compliant with the Food Safety Act and Welsh Government nutritional guidelines, including special diets.
  • Assist with stock control, storage, preparation, cooking, delivering and serving of meals on and off site to the requirements of the service.
  • Maintain accurate records as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of menus, menu development and costing associated with the catering service.
  • Assist in the evaluation of staffing levels, staff rotas, on the job training of staff.

This position has a requirement for an Enhanced DBS Check.
