About the role:
- To assist with the preparation, cooking, serving or delivering of food in a Powys County Council premise, by efficient use of resources.
- Compliance with the Food Safety Act, nutritional standards as per Welsh Government Healthy Schools in Wales and all relative procedures, policies and legislation.
- Promotion of the Catering Service through promotional events and customer awareness.
- Cover for the cook during their absence.
About you:
- You must have an excellent understanding of food safety.
- Have a good understanding of the importance of food control.
- Ability to obtain Food Safety Certificate level 2 is essential.
- Ability to undertake the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to respond to peaks in workload, meet deadlines and deliver the required service.
What you will do:
- Assist with preparation of meals that are compliant with the Food Safety Act and Welsh Government nutritional guidelines, including special diets.
- Assist with stock control, storage, preparation, cooking, delivering and serving of meals on and off site to the requirements of the service.
- Maintain accurate records as required.
- Assist with the preparation of menus, menu development and costing associated with the catering service.
- Assist in the evaluation of staffing levels, staff rotas, on the job training of staff.
This position has a requirement for an Enhanced DBS Check.
