Are you an outstanding Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a passion for teaching mathematics and inspiring children to achieve their very best?

Long Whatton CE Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated HLTA to join our exceptional team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to teach mathematics across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in a high-performing, nurturing village school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.

This is a unique opportunity to teach mathematics in small groups of approximately 15 pupils, allowing you to focus on high-quality teaching and outstanding pupil progress without the wider responsibilities of class teaching.

The Role

As our HLTA, you will lead daily mathematics teaching each morning in small year group classes of approximately 15 pupils.

As a mixed-age school, we teach mathematics in discrete year groups to ensure every child receives carefully targeted teaching.

Your timetable will alternate weekly

  • Week A: Years 1, 3 and 5
  • Week B: Years 2, 4 and 6

Working with small teaching groups allows you to build strong relationships with pupils, provide high-quality feedback and ensure excellent progress for every learner.

  • Holds HLTA status (or has equivalent experience).
  • Has excellent subject knowledge, particularly in mathematics.
  • Can deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire children to achieve their full potential.
  • Has high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Is organised, adaptable and committed to continuous professional development.
  • Shares our vision of educating the whole child within a caring and supportive school community.
