As a Trainee Leakage Technician, you’ll learn how to identify and investigate water leaks using both traditional field techniques and modern technology. Through our structured 18-week Te Cas-accredited training programme, you’ll develop the knowledge and confidence to work independently within a high-performing team.

No two days are the same — you could be

  • Pinpointing complex underground leaks
  • Supporting repair teams with accurate leak locations
  • Conducting surveys and validation work
  • Using advanced detection equipment in real-world scenarios

You’ll play a vital role in reducing water loss and improving network efficiency.

The Role

  • Conduct detailed surveys to identify leak type and location
  • Use specialist equipment such as correlators, pipe tracers, ground microphones, and data loggers
  • Accurately complete timesheets, survey forms, and leakage reports
  • Support repair teams by precisely identifying leak positions
  • Take full responsibility for Health & Safety compliance
  • Report accidents, incidents, and near misses within required timeframes
  • Adhere to company vehicle safety processes and complete daily vehicle checks
  • Work closely with the Training Team and Leakage Supervisors to build technical proficiency
  • Demonstrate company values and professional behaviours at all times
