A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Project Planner / Project Scheduler to join a major MEP programme based in Whitehall. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, maintaining and monitoring the Master Integrated Schedule, working across multiple buildings and contractors to ensure programmes remain aligned, dependencies are effectively managed, and key project milestones are achieved. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planner to work on a high-profile, complex programme involving multiple contractor interfaces, phased delivery and critical summer shutdown periods.

The Role

The Project Planner will be responsible for maintaining an accurate and integrated programme, providing clear schedule information to support project decision-making and identifying potential risks to key milestones. Working closely with the Project Manager, contractors, commercial teams and technical stakeholders, the successful candidate will ensure that programme dependencies, interfaces and risks are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

Planning & Schedule Management

  • Develop and maintain the Master Integrated Schedule using industry-standard planning software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Integrate multiple contractor programmes into a single, cohesive schedule.
  • Identify and manage cross-project dependencies, interfaces and critical path impacts.
  • Ensure the programme accurately reflects the project's phased and agile delivery strategy.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Conduct regular progress updates with building works contractors and controls contractors.
  • Undertake critical path analysis to identify potential delays and risks to key project milestones.
  • Provide accurate schedule information and reporting to support project decision-making.
  • Develop 'What-If' scenarios to help mitigate risks associated with building access, equipment lead times and programme constraints.
  • Produce weekly dashboard updates and monthly programme reports.

Resource & Interface Coordination

  • Map and manage interfaces between technical assurance reviews, commercial valuations and physical site works.
  • Coordinate programme activities across multiple project stakeholders and contractors.
  • Support the scheduling of final project activities and commissioning sequences.

Risk, Change & Governance

  • Support the commercial team with Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA).
  • Monitor schedule contingency and identify any erosion of programme float.
  • Assess the time impact of proposed changes and variations.
  • Ensure programme changes are managed through the appropriate formal Change Control process.
  • Provide early warning of potential delays and programme risks to the Project Manager.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Project Planner or Project Scheduler with a strong background in complex infrastructure, construction or MEP projects.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years' experience working on infrastructure, construction or complex MEP projects.
  • Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Strong experience developing and managing integrated project schedules.
  • Experience managing programmes involving multiple contractors and complex interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of critical path analysis, schedule risk and change control.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex programme data into clear and concise reports.
  • APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain or already hold SC Security Clearance.
  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on Government or public-sector estates and infrastructure programmes.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodologies.
  • Previous experience working across complex, multi-contractor environments.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Maintain the project schedule within agreed baseline tolerances.
  • Support delivery against critical project milestones and key shutdown windows.
  • Provide accurate and timely weekly and monthly programme reporting.
  • Identify and communicate schedule risks and potential delays at an early stage.
  • Maintain effective control of programme float, contingency and change.
