  • Paediatric Long-Term Ventilation Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • To work alongside the current Well Child LTV Clinical nurse specialists to support children & young people requiring long-term ventilation in St Georges Hospital and South-West London, both as inpatient care and following discharge to home.
  • To utilise the Well Child Better at Home SIM training programme and facility within St Georges to advance training for parents and carers of children with LTV needs, prior to discharge from hospital.

To continue training for parents of children with LTV needs prior to, and after discharge from hospital.

  • To share the clinical caseload to manage and support the complex discharge process
  • To share the clinical caseload to provide ongoing care and support of children with LTV after discharge including outpatient clinics, telephone advice, and domiciliary visits.

To assist in acute ventilation set up within the clinical settings and support with troubleshooting.

  • To act as an expert resource in paediatric LTV and complex discharge planning.

To work independently/autonomously alongside the multi-disciplinary teams of St Georges Hospital Paediatric Intensive care Unit (PICU), Paediatric Step-Down Unit (PSDU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNU) at St Georges Hospital.

  • To participate in research and education to advance clinical excellence in this area
  • It is our aim that each child/young person and their family should be treated as individuals.
