Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist | Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in oncology to join our Private Care division within Thames View, Charing Cross Hospital.
As a CNS, you will provide expert specialist nursing care, advanced clinical assessment, and holistic support to patients across the private cancer pathways.
Working closely with consultants, the multidisciplinary team, and the private care leadership team, you will drive excellence in practice, service development, and patient experience.
The oncology cancer nurse specialist is an expert practitioner who, at a senior level, facilitates the provision of high quality, specialist nursing care to patients seen within Private Care at ICHT with a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of cancer.
The post holder would be expected to work within our Consultant led service and as part of a specialist cancer nursing team.
The post holder would be expected to contribute to the diagnostic service for the detection of cancer.
The post holder will provide clinical care to patients, and support and advice their families/carers attending the Trust, either as an inpatient or outpatient.
The post holder will also act as a resource to other professionals on cancers and associated treatments and issues.
The role encompasses clinical, consultative, teaching, leadership, and research and audit functions.
- Deliver expert specialist nursing care for private gynaecology patients across outpatient, diagnostic, procedural, and inpatient pathways.
- Act as an autonomous practitioner undertaking advanced clinical assessments, care planning, and coordination of complex cases.
- Provide specialist advice, education, and psychological support to patients and their families.
- Lead and contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and the premium private care experience.
- Support consultant surgeons and the MDT in delivering timely, seamless pathways, including pre-operative optimisation, postoperative reviews, and follow up care.
- Promote high standards of practice through clinical leadership, audit, research, and evidence based care.
- Deliver teaching, training, and professional development for nursing and support staff within private care.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, governance processes, and Trust values.
