Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and compassionate Macmillan Cancer Support Workerto join our Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

This role supports patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring they receive timely information, coordinated care and access to appropriate support services.

As stated in the job description, the postholder will“support the coordination of care for GI cancer patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway”and“provide clear information to patients and their families.”

Main Duties

  • Coordinate appointments, investigations, blood tests and treatment‑related logistics.
  • Provide a single point of contact for patients, carers and GPs.
  • Support delivery of Holistic Needs Assessments and health & wellbeing events.
  • Offer basic telephone advice and signposting under supervision.
  • Liaise with CNS teams, MDT members and external partners including Macmillan and Maggie’s Centre.
  • Contribute to audits, governance and service development.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 GCSEs and evidence of further education or equivalent experience.
