Locum Consultant in Endocrinology | Barts Health NHS Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen for afull time, fixed term locum consultant in the Department of Endocrinology at the Barts Cancer Centre, initially for a period of 12 months.

The postholder will be based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and will work with the endocrinology team in providing high quality care to endocrine and general medicine patients.

The successful candidate will join an effective service during an exciting period of change and development.

The service is currently moving to a new location with an expanded bed base and an opportunity to develop the Endocrine Centre of Excellence.

The Department of Endocrinology at St Bartholomew’s provides secondary, tertiary and quaternary endocrine services to East London, The City, Inner and Outer NE London and many centres around and beyond the UK.

The department has developed a high international reputation for its research, teaching and clinical activities and recently received two separate international centre of excellence awards.

It employs a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating adult and paediatric clinical endocrinology, and basic science in biochemistry and molecular biology to facilitate the investigation and treatment of endocrine disorders throughout lifespan.

  • To be an active member of the Endocrinology Department and to help deliver the departmental mission of excellence in clinical care and teaching.

To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high quality evidence-based Endocrinology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

Leadership, development and organisation of the services in the charge of the post holder in line with the Trust/Divisional business plans.

Liaison and communication with the Clinical Director for Endocrinology, the Divisional Director for Cancer Services, and the General Manager and Associate General Manager
