The Coborn Centre Mental Health is a mental health hospital based at Newham Centre For Mental Health that provides assessment and treatment for male and female individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties.

Our vision is to provide optimum care and treatment to aid recovery and promote well being prior to returning back within the community environment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our 4 bedded PICU (Pluto Ward) inpatient wards for an enthusiastic Band 4, Life Skills Recovery Worker to join our busy and motivated team on Pluto Ward Ward.

Pluto Ward's aim is to deliver a patient focused care that provides young people with an opportunity to better understand the crisis or behaviour that resulted in their admission and to learn coping skills to reduce the risk of relapse.

As a life skills recover worker, you will assist in the provision of outstanding recovery focused care as part of the nursing team and wider multi-disciplinary team.

This post will require you to work a mixture of shift work (long days and night shifts as well as 9-5 shifts).

  • To work alongside qualified nursing and occupational therapy staff to jointly co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the service and support the teams to deliver a robust, high quality clinical service.
  • To develop and maintain strong links with community resources, including within the trust, local authority and third sector organisations in order to refer patients and support their engagement in preparation for discharge.
  • To assist with visits and events in the community when appropriate.
  • To develop specialist knowledge and skills in child and adolescent mental health, and to train and educate others in their practice. To support with discharge planning.
  • To work alongside and feedback to a well-established MDT and ensure effective communication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to the Trust.
  • To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.

To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.
