We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants (Personal Care) to support students with additional learning needs, disabilities, and complex care requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about promoting independence, inclusion, and positive educational outcomes for young people within a further education setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality academic, physical, and communication support to students with a range of additional learning needs.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in lessons, enrichment activities, educational visits, reviews, and other college events.
- Work closely with teaching staff and SEND professionals to deliver tailored support plans and learning interventions.
- Assist students with personal care requirements, including toileting, changing, feeding, PEG feeding, mobility support, moving and handling, and other intimate care needs while maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
- Support students on a one-to-one basis and within small groups to promote engagement, independence, and achievement.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of learning activities that remove barriers to learning and support individual progress.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in line with college procedures.
- Attend review meetings and contribute to target setting, progress reviews, and written reports where required.
- Promote student wellbeing, safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all aspects of the role.
- Work collaboratively with lecturers, SENCOs, therapists, and support teams to ensure students receive the highest standard of support.
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience supporting young people or adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, learning disabilities, or complex needs.
- Experience providing personal care support, including toileting, feeding, changing, PEG feeding, and mobility assistance, or a willingness to undertake personal care responsibilities.
- Experience working within an educational, care, support, or community setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
- Understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and adaptable when supporting individuals with varying needs.
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
