PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Development and delivery of the Data, Research and Impact strategy through a cascade of the overall business strategy by ensuring

Felix uses robust evidence, technology and research to maximise its social impact and make effective strategic decisions.

The role provides strategic leadership for the Impact & Insights function at a pivotal stage for Felix post-merger. It will also play a critical role as we reshape and transition Data, Digital and Technology, clarifying ownership of business logic, measurement frameworks, KPIs, data quality and governance so that Impact & Insights, Technology and business owners have clear accountabilities and can build greater organisational data maturity. Through this, the role will embed data-informed decision making across the organisation, underpinned by strong governance, reporting frameworks and cross-functional collaboration.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a key member of the Data, Digital, and Technology (DDa T) Senior Management Team, actively shaping our overarching technology roadmap and ensuring our data architecture supports long-term organisational growth.
  • Lead the transition of roles and responsibilities as DDAT is reshaped, ensuring Impact & Insights takes clear ownership of business logic and insight requirements while working with Technology to inform the core reporting suite and data infrastructure, creating clearer accountabilities and a stronger, more effective department.
  • Own business logic, measurement frameworks, KPI design and data quality reporting, working with business owners and Technology to strengthen data governance and organisational data maturity.
  • Create and maintain an innovative environment that encourages colleague participation in raising standards of quality, team working and communication.
  • Monitor departmental KPI’s and challenge improvement when required to ensure targets are achieved and improved.
  • Oversee the production of reporting and analytical outputs that turn complex evidence into clear, compelling insight for senior leaders, trustees and external stakeholders.
  • Personally lead and deliver analysis for key strategic projects, ensuring robust evidence, insight and recommendations directly inform organisational priorities and decision-making.
  • Work in partnership with fundraising, food and marketing teams to ensure insight, evidence and impact reporting are embedded in planning, delivery and strategic decision-making.
  • Support systems, tools and processes for effective data capture, reporting, governance and insight generation, working closely with the BI Lead and data engineering team.
  • Establish and advocate for appropriate use of AI and digital tools to improve or automate analysis, forecasting, reporting efficiency or insight generation, with appropriate governance in place.
  • Strategically manage the Impact & Insights budget and resources effectively, ensuring investment is prioritised to deliver the greatest value for organisational learning, performance and impact.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Significant senior-level experience leading impact, insight, research, functions, with a track record of using evidence to shape organisational strategy and decision-making.
  • Strong experience of developing impact measurement frameworks, KPIs and reporting approaches that demonstrate organisational performance and social impact.
  • Experience of improving data governance, data quality and data management practices across teams, with a clear understanding of responsible data use and data privacy regulations (eg GDPR).
  • Ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, creating clarity, focus and high standards across insight generation, research and reporting.
  • Strong strategic communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate asks, recommendations and trade-offs to ELT, boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of contributing at senior management team level, influencing cross-functional roadmaps and priorities within data, digital or technology environments.
  • Practical experience of using AI or advanced digital tools to strengthen analysis, insight generation, forecasting or reporting efficiency, alongside strong consideration of ethics, governance and adoption.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, able to build trusted relationships across functions and translate complex evidence into clear, actionable insight for varied audiences.
  • Knowledge of Impact methods including Theory of Change and Social Return on Investment.
