  • Food Safety Team Leader needed Paying £28.96 per day ref
  • Full time hours on a temporarybasis
  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Principal Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Officers, Assistant Enforcement Officers, and support staff, ensuring high levels of performance and service delivery.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Food Safety Team, ensuring statutory food safety and food standards functions are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Undertake business planning, resource allocation, and performance management activities to meet service objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant food safety legislation, Food Standards Agency (FSA) guidance, and policies and procedures.
  • Maintain responsibility for a caseload of complex food hygiene, food standards, and enforcement investigations, including high-risk and sensitive cases.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to officers, businesses, elected members, and stakeholders on food law and regulatory matters.
  • Lead on the development, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, and service improvements across the food safety function.
  • Monitor and report on team performance, service delivery outcomes, and statutory obligations, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Oversee inspection programmes, enforcement activities, complaints investigations, and food-related incidents in accordance with statutory timescales.
  • Support the Unit Manager in developing strategic plans and contributing to wider divisional and corporate council priorities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the Food Standards Agency, local businesses, partner agencies, and other regulatory bodies.
