We are looking for a Field Operations Manager to join Thames Water on a permanent basis. You will lead and develop a multi-disciplined team, who will be carrying out Operational and Maintenance activities at Sewage Pumping Stations in the Southeast London area. You will be responsible for operational and maintenance delivery through the effective leadership and direction of resources to achieve set performance and expenditure targets, quality standards and statutory requirements. This role will allow you to support the development of Field Technicians and maintain a good awareness of the maintenance needs of Sewage Pumping Stations. You will be managing teams with a wide range of operational, mechanical and electrical expertise. Field Operations Managers are people experts and will drive the performance of their teams, ensuring that health, safety, and quality standards are maintained.
Location: Crossness (STW) - SE2 9AQ
Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday as part of your role, there is a requirement to participate in an out-of-hours coordinator standby rota where you will receive an additional payment for this.
What you will be doing as a Field Operations Manager:
- Lead a multi-disciplined team delivering planned and defective maintenance for approximately 250 pumping stations across the Southeast London area.
- Lead, Coach and develop people to fulfil the business needs.
- Champion change through a passion for continuous improvement, promoting best practice ways of working and sharing local knowledge.
- Manage, control and report on an assigned budget, including contributing to budgetary planning to ensure that financial targets are met.
- Assist with developing risk assessment and Safe Systems of Work (SHE4) for complex work activities.
- Conduct health and safety audits.
- Demonstrate adherence to health and safety policies, and a clear commitment to continuously improving the health and safety of our people and sites.
What skills are we looking for?
- To be considered for this role, you will need to have previous supervisory experience with great leadership skills.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a process-related or technical industry is desirable together with a sound working knowledge of the safe systems of work required under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- IT literacy is essential as all work is managed using the SAP Click system.
- Your interpersonal and communication skills will be highly developed, as will your ability to communicate across all levels, as you will need to liaise with staff within Network and Waste Operations and Planning offices.
- You will demonstrate good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem solving and strong team working and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication skills are therefore a prerequisite, together with a flexible approach to work and the ability to work on your own initiative.
- A full current driving license is essential as a car allowance is provided.
