An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineer - Strategic Projects - Software Factory to support the development and continuous improvement of a Software Factory environment used to deliver next-generation combat management system software within the defence and maritime sector. Working within an Agile team, you will help design, develop and integrate software solutions using modern DevSecOps practices, cloud technologies and secure development methodologies.
Working Pattern: Ad hoc requirement, maximum of 1 day per week onsite
Daily Rate: £50.17 per hour PAYE (Inside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP
Security Clearance: Candidates must currently hold SC Clearance, have previously held SC Clearance, or have worked within a security-cleared environment and be eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS and SC Clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work within an Agile Scrum team, supporting the Scrum Master and Product Owner in the delivery of software development work packages.
- Design, develop and implement technical solutions that enhance the Software Factory capability.
- Support the development, review and maintenance of software code and engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with software engineers and developers, providing technical guidance and code review support.
- Support the integration, testing and deployment of software products within secure operational environments.
- Assist with the implementation and adoption of DevSecOps processes, tools and best practices.
- Support downstream product integration activities, including deployment into air-gapped and secure environments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, knowledge sharing and team learning activities.
Key Requirements:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent further learning to honours degree level) in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science or a related Science discipline.
- Experience working within software engineering, systems engineering or software development environments.
- Knowledge and practical experience of Agile development methodologies and Scrum delivery practices.
- Understanding of DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based software development environments.
- Experience designing and implementing technical solutions throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Strong engineering communication, investigative and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to support software integration, testing and deployment activities.
- Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution and progress towards IEng or CEng status would be advantageous.
