- Skilled and experienced employment lawyer with the ability to understand Public Sector Policy Drivers providing expert legal support to major projects.
Providing specialist and robust legal advice in relation to complex employment law matters including those relating to discrimination, equal pay and pensions, and be responsible for ensuring the provision of sound, pragmatic and business focused advice on the full spectrum of employment law issues to the Client and external clients such as schools.
- To provide to day advice to HR and senior managers on casework i. e. sickness absence, performance issues and restructures, as wells as advice on equality issues, HR policy matters and employment tribunal litigation in a proactive expert, timely and authoritative legal advice and support to senior leaders and key decision makers at a high level, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
- Represent the Client before Courts and Tribunals and, in particular the Employment Tribunal, as advocate conducting cases in a way that complies with current practice and protocols and take all reasonable steps to achieve the judgements/decisions which could reasonably be expected from the available evidence.
- Instruct Counsel as necessary, arrange case conferences and attend Counsel at hearings as and when required and to arrange representation at Judicial Reviews and other legal challenges against the Client.
- Carry out, a range of other legal work as required, including the drafting of any necessary documents to implement decisions taken in pursuance of the Client's functions and provide legal advice on a range of employment litigation matters.
- Prepare, reports for and attend and give legal and procedural advice including in relation to complex and highly complex matters to the Executive, to any Committee or Members of such Executive and to such Committees, Sub-Committees, Working Parties and other groups of Members or Officers as may be required to enable decisions to be taken and implemented in accordance with the law.
- Participate in projects relating to corporate, interdivisional or interdepartmental work as may be required by the Principal Solicitor (Litigation) or the Head of Legal Services to enable the Client to formulate and implement policies in accordance with the law.
This is afull time role on a temporary contract basis.
