Divisional Director | Barts Health NHS Trust
We are seeking an exceptional clinical leader to join Newham University Hospital as Divisional Director of Medicine.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious individual to provide strategic leadership across Specialist Internal Medicine and Urgent & Emergency Care services, including Acute Medicine, during a period of significant investment and transformation.
The post carries 4–6 Programmed Activities dedicated to the Divisional Director role and is offered on a 3-year tenure basis.
The successful candidate will be a Hospital Executive Board member and work in partnership with the Divisional triumvirate: Deputy Director of Operations and Associate Director of Nursing, and the Executive Team, to deliver high-quality, patient-centred services and shape the future of urgent and emergency care and specialist medicine for the population of Newham and East London.
As Divisional Director, you will provide visible and effective clinical leadership across a diverse portfolio of services, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable care.
Key responsibilities will include
- Providing strategic leadership for Specialist Internal Medicine and Urgent & Emergency Care, including Acute Medicine.
- Driving service transformation, quality improvement and innovation across the division.
- Supporting delivery of operational, workforce, quality and financial objectives.
- Developing strong partnerships with the community, primary care and system colleagues to improve patient pathways and outcomes.
- Leading on MDT engagement, management and fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement.
- Supporting the development of future leaders within the division.
- Ensuring the patient voice remains central to service redesign and decision-making.
