We are looking for enthusiastic, responsible and dedicated Imaging assistants to join the Imaging team at St Mary’s - Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful applicant will be required to assist Radiographers, Sonographers and Radiologists to help deliver a high quality patient focused service.

They should have good communication skills, as both telephone and face to face patient contact is continuously required. They should be able to work as part of a team, with good listening skills and an ability to follow direction and protocol in a busy and ever changing working environment. They will also be expected to chaperone during intimate examinations, such as CT Colonography examinations. They will also be assisting radiographers with patients who are referred from AE and Major Trauma departments.

  • Support the radiographic and radiological staff when undertaking procedures and chaperone during intimate examinations as appropriate.
  • Provide support and information to other staff, patients, carers and relatives as required including telephone and booking systems.
  • Ensure effective communication with other staff and members of the public always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Identify patients correctly using departmental Protocols and Procedures.
  • Receive patients into the department and prepare them for their examination.
  • To have a clear understanding of all procedures carried out within the Unit and the preparation required prior to the examination.
  • Prepare sterile trolleys and assist during interventional procedures.
