The adult Haematology service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) runs one of the largest stem cell transplant (SCT) JACIE accredited programmes within London, performing approximately 170 procedures annually. The portfolio of the transplant unit has further expanded to include CAR-T therapy and other innovative cellular/gene therapies.
In response to this service development, we are now seeking to recruit to a newly created Band 8a CNS Team Lead/Coordinator role to support the existing transplant coordinating team. This offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced haematology nurse with relevant SCT and leadership experience to join this evolving clinical service.
- Act as CNS team lead for the specialist nursing team and wider transplant coordinator team, providing expert clinical supervision and leadership.
- Work in close collaboration with the wider Stem Cell Transplant (SCT) specialist teams including SCT Programme Director, Medical SCT coordinators, CNS and Transplant Management teams, supporting the coordination of transplant related treatment pathways across the inpatient and ambulatory day care settings.
- Oversee the delivery of specialist nursing service for SCT, other cellular therapy recipients and related donors, providing expert knowledge.
- Fulfil the role of clinical nurse specialist (CNS) working as a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working at enhanced level within a specific area of practice.
- Assess, manage, deliver care, advise and support patients and those important to them.
- Work as part of a wider MDT model, leading the CNS team to ensure there is a responsive approach to the rapidly evolving requirements of SCT, cellular therapies and gene-editing requirements.
- Manage a defined patient caseload, acting as a key worker and patient advocate, in line with the NHS plan and actively apply in-depth knowledge of holistic/socio-economic and cultural aspects of the care to clients within your specific speciality, acting as a role model and resource for patients, relatives and staff.
