Clinical Teaching Fellow (Neuromuscular complex care centre)

The post holder will contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, research, and service development activities within the department.
They will be expected to act as a professional role model for medical students and colleagues, maintaining high standards of clinical practice, education, and professionalism, while engaging in continuing professional development and educational leadership opportunities.

We welcome both trainee neurologists and general medical trainees wishing to gain experience in the management of neurological disorders to inform their future practice.
The hospital is closely linked to a number of leading research facilities, and trainees wishing to pursue research interests in future will be well placed to explore this.
Queen Square is minutes from Russell Square and Holborn underground stations in central London and has good transport connections to national rail and bus networks.
There are several different firms at the hospital, and trainees can gain experience in: Epilepsy and sleep disorders Parkinsonism and movement disorders Dementia and cognitive impairment Neuropathies and myopathies Neuro-ophthalmology Autonomic dysfunction Neuromuscular complex care Neurological intensive care (unique within the UK) Stroke, including thrombolysis and rehabilitation SHOs rotate through weeks of inpatient ward work and time on the daycare unit.
Shifts are a combination of standard hours (usually 8.30am to 5pm) and on-call shifts.
Experience Applicants should have completed a minimum of two years of postgraduate training following the Foundation Programme (or equivalent) and be working at ST3 level or able to demonstrate equivalent competencies.
Teaching There are daily opportunities to attend teaching.
These include grand rounds, clinico-pathologic cases, bedside teaching and consultant-led tutorials, often by international experts.
Two teaching sessions are protected: a weekly teaching session for MRCP PACES neurology and a weekly CMT teaching session tied to the curriculum and delivered by consultants.
Supervision All trainees will have a named educational supervisor and an electronic portfolio on which to log progress.
