Clinical Research & Development Facilitator | Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust
The Clinical Research & Development Facilitator will play a key role in the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital’s Research Office, linking with colleagues at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Research Office, to deliver an effective and efficient service to our research community in the development, set-up, management and delivery of research.
The role will adapt to service need within the Heart Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group (HLCC) at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT).
It will allow a broad, well supported exposure to the full clinical research pipeline and portfolio that we lead on and host within our clinical group footprint.
This will range from providing pre-award support on research grants, to events and campaigns support, to assisting with sponsorship and hosted feasibility assessments.
The post will suit an ambitious candidate who seeks exposure to wide training opportunities and impact across a busy specialist clinical research portfolio at world leading hospital sites.
The post holder will assist the Research Development Team by providing pre-award support on commercially funded research grants, providing administrative assistance, including costing and guidance in the development and submission of funding applications.
They will also assist the Research Development Team in raising the profile of research internally and externally through various events and campaigns, highlighting the support of the Research Office to research staff and communicating research funding and training opportunities.

The Research Office oversees and offers support throughout the research process, including; research funding, grant applications and communications; industry-funded research; non-commercial research; research regulation, governance and compliance; research information systems and statistical services; patient and public involvement.
Assist the Research Managers and Research Associates in organising and implementing research development initiatives in the Trust and promoting the Trust’s research activities to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist researchers within HLCC in the preparation of research grants.
- Support the delivery of the research portfolio within the HLCC clinical group through active engagement with the research teams, clinical and service support departments, the local CRN and industry partners.
- Support sponsorship reviews for Trust led studies.
- Facilitate post-award and project set-up processes, ensuring funding information is passed on to other members of the Research Office in a timely and efficient manner.
- Facilitate feasibility assessments for Trust led and hosted projects including contract agreements with research partners
- Assess, arrange and confirm the Trust’s capacity and capability to successfully deliver research.
- Drive data quality standards and completeness on the Research Office’s study management database.
- Ensure that all relevant study activities are accomplished effectively in line with the national performance metrics and NIHR RDN metrics.
- Promote the corporate image of the Trust and its research activity.
- Assist with clinical research quality functions where required.
- Provide costs for research grants, liaising with Finance and other Trust departments as necessary.
- Act as Associate Aco RD (Attributing the costs of health and social care Research & Development) Specialist, maintaining a working knowledge of Aco RD and its application in the NHS.
- Source relevant funding opportunities for researchers and circulate to the wider Heart, Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group. Support the research teams with administration.
