Bank Specialist Wound Care Podiatrist Band 7
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the practitioners professional activities. 2.
To carry out assessment within outpatients, inpatients and emergency care settings as an autonomous practitioner.
Patients will include those with a range of complex presentations and co-morbidities. 3.
To work with other rotational band 7 podiatrists in ensuring clinical areas are covered accordingly, with priority of complex or higher risk cases. 4.
To use clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence-based practice and highly specialised podiatric expertise to determine appropriate care plan utilising specialist treatment skills and options. 5.
To be responsible for providing clinical interventions to patients for the management of complex multi-factorial lower limb pathologies.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENTS 1.
To maintain accurate, comprehensive professional case notes for all direct and indirect patient contact. 2.
To communicate effectively with patients, carers and other professionals on an individual or group basis in order to maximise rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of condition, which will frequently require flexible communication skills including: motivation; persuasion; explanation of complex issues including anatomy, physiology, pathology, biomechanics and techniques; gaining consent; negotiation. 3.
To occasionally convey information, particularly in highly complex, contentious and emotive situations which may be deemed inappropriate for more junior staff, which may require more developed communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT 1.
To have knowledge and understanding of a variety of cultural backgrounds and beliefs in order to respect individuals rights and dignity. 2.
To undertake monitoring and evaluation of work and current practice through the use of evidence based practice projects, audit and outcome measures either as an individual or a as a group.
To make recommendations and implement change where required. 3.
To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management appropriate to the work situation.
