Following a successful bid, we have secured recurrent funding from NHS England via the Medical Technologies (MedTech) funding stream to enhance and sustain our current services.

This investment will support the development of an enhanced Red Cell Exchange service and expand capacity for Day Pain Management at the newly developed Haemoglobinopathy Ambulatory Hub at Central Middlesex Hospital, serving adult patients across the North West London region. This programme directly addresses the concerns raised in the "No One’s Listening" report, tackling health inequalities and improving outcomes for patients living with haemoglobinopathies.

We are seeking an experienced and autonomous Advanced Nurse Practitioner with:

  • Advanced physical assessment skills
  • Significant experience in managing patients with haemoglobinopathies or haematological conditions in acute settings

You will play a key role in clinical decision-making and patient care delivery within our new ambulatory model. To ensure equitable service delivery, you may need to work across sites. Support and continued professional development will be provided.

The post holder will practice autonomously as an advanced practitioner within the Haemoglobinopathy service to provide patient-centred clinical care, encompassing the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, requesting and interpreting test results, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the department. The post holder will demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgement and diagnostic reasoning.

They will demonstrate a high level of expertise within a number of specific haemoglobin disorders providing advice, education and support to patients, their families and carers. They will lead and develop the Nurse-Led Apheresis service. They will have responsibility for leading the ongoing development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.

They will act as a highly specialised role model and leader for all members of staff and play a major role in the continuous development of the services within the Trust. They will be expected to work cross-site and flexible in conjunction with different consultant firms and to support the multidisciplinary team including junior doctors and nurses. The post holder will be involved in Clinical Governance and the departmental strategic agenda and overall management of the nursing staff.
