This post represents an exciting opportunity to combine clinical practice in diagnostic and laboratory microbiology with direct care to inpatients and outpatients with infection-related problems. It is a fixed term appointment to cover a colleague’s maternity leave.
The successful post holder will join and contribute to a strong innovative consultant body and it is envisaged that the post holder will complement and strengthen the existing subspecialties within the care group which include:
- Leadership for the infection prevention and control team
- Antimicrobial stewardship
- OPAT
- Infection on the Intensive Care Units
- Hospital-acquired infection
- Surgical site infections
- HIV medicine/co-infection (hepatitis / TB)
- Travel-related infection
- Tuberculosis (including MDRTB)
- Treatment of invasive fungal infections
On-call for Medical Microbiology/Clinical infection overnight and at weekends will be included on an approximately 1:8 basis. We strongly support flexible working in the department. We would encourage the post holder to take an interest in laboratory microbiology.
