Locum Consultant Histopathologist GI | Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT)

This is a replacement post. It is expected that the appointee will have an established or a developing interest in Gastrointestinal Pathology and Breast Pathology.

The department supports flexible working including working from home via digital pathology.

Any consultant who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post.

If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Successful applicants can receivea Recruitment & Retention Premium of up to£20,000, paid in instalments over three years.

Applicants should have a CCT or be within six months of achieving this at the date of interview or be listed on the GMC’s specialist register to be eligible for application for a substantive post.

CESR applicants are welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.

  • Histopathology reporting of Gastrointestinal specimens including an extensive range of GI resection and biopsy specimens.
  • Histopathology reporting of Breast specimens
  • To participate in EQA schemes and proficiency testing relevant to your areas of practice.
  • Participation in Multi-disciplinary Team Meetings for GI and Breast sub-specialties.
  • To take part in continuing professional development and to join the RCPath CPD scheme.
  • To audit aspects of your work and to produce or contribute to at least one audit per year relevant to your areas of work.
  • To develop and maintain a portfolio of evidence to support GMC revalidation.
  • To undergo an annual appraisal carried out in accordance with the Trust policy.
