The Maintenance Technician supports the day-to-day upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of buildings, labs, equipment, and facilities. This role ensures a safe, clean, and functional environment by assisting with routine inspections, minor repairs, and preventative and reactive maintenance tasks, whilst adherence to Health & Safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs of buildings, equipment, and systems. (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, fire and intruder alarm maintenance).
- Diagnose faults using technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams accurately. Training will be provided, if required.
- Perform regular inspections to identify and report maintenance issues or hazards.
- Carry out basic repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing office lighting, painting, and assembling furniture.
- Support preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime and extend asset life.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of maintenance areas, tools, and equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Co-ordinate external contractors when required.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work completed.
- Ensure health and safety procedures and regulations are always adhered to within the building.
- Updating of building fixed wiring diagrams & Test certificates. Training will be provided, if required.
