The predicted salary is between 113165 - 138313 Β£ per year.
The job will be structured to provide outpatient clinics in luminal gastroenterology and hepatology and inpatient work alongside consultant specialist hepatologists and luminal gastroenterologists. Outpatient experience will include general luminal gastroenterology and hepatology clinics, with opportunities for exposure to specialist services depending on service requirements and trainee interests.
Dedicated endoscopy training opportunities will be available, including diagnostic upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy where appropriate. The frequency of training lists will be tailored to the successful applicant's previous experience and educational needs, balanced against the training capacity of the department.
No out of hours on calls are included within the role, but this can be discussed if the successful wishes to do so. In hours on call cover (i.e. Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) will be provided during some periods of inpatient ward work. Any subsequently agreed out of hours work would attract the usual pay supplement.
All clinical activity will be undertaken under the supervision of a named consultant, with educational and clinical supervision provided in a similar manner to doctors within an approved Gastroenterology specialty training programme. Dedicated time will be included within the job plan for professional development, teaching, audit, quality improvement projects, research and portfolio development.
Opportunities will be available to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the department. Applicants should have completed Internal Medicine Training (or equivalent experience) and possess MRCP (UK) or an equivalent postgraduate qualification. The post is particularly suitable for doctors considering a career in gastroenterology who wish to consolidate their experience before applying for higher specialty training.
