We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and experienced Project Manager to work as part of our Project Management team. This will involve working with partners across the system to improve outcomes within cancer services across Liverpool and wider across Cheshire and Merseyside.

The post holder will have a key role in supporting University Hospitals Liverpool Group in the development of a Quality Assurance Framework for Cancer Multi Disciplinary Teams (MDT), building strong relationships with stakeholders to support the MDT optimisation workstream of the Trust's cancer improvement programme.

Working with new and established clinical leadership forums, local partners and patients is key to the role. Our core project team needs additional enthusiastic and skilled people to help us in delivering best practice, value, experience and outcomes for patients. The base for this vacancy will be Aintree University Hospital with an expectation to travel to sites across the UHLG footprint and the wider Cheshire and Merseyside region.

  • Project manage the delivery of the organisation’s approach to a local cancer specific quality assurance framework, taking into consideration previous national requirements and also current national programmes such as GIRFT.
  • Develop and standardise cancer MDT Quality Measures and improve consistency of the application of quality measures for cancer MDTs across the organisation.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) along with educational tools to guide data capture, submission, and reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical cancer leads, lead tumour site CNSs and corporate cancer team to support evidenced based standards of care to drive efficiency of MDTs.
  • Ensure the alignment of the cancer assurance framework with the organisational objectives and values.
  • Ensure sustainability through the development of MDT quality assurance toolkit.
  • Incorporate cancer patient experience liaising with stakeholders such as patients and carers.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders across Cheshire and Merseyside system to develop agreed local and regional Quality Assurance Framework for tertiary specialist cancer MDTs.

Effective planning, implementation, delivery & monitoring of the Cancer quality assurance framework and cancer MDT optimisation workstream.

  • Producing accurate and well-structured project documentation.
  • Reporting project progress to senior management and advising on options to address project issues as they arise.
  • Risk identification, reporting and management.
  • Data analysis, interpretation and communication of results and propose recommendations using project management methodology.
  • Monitoring and managing the delivery of projects against targets.
  • Support operational teams in the identification and development of benefits realisation portfolio project plans, milestones and risks.
  • To benchmark and review external guidance in order to deliver project outcomes that are effective, meet the service need and deliver assurance and established targets.
  • To ensure the contributions and perspectives of all staff are heard, valued and influence decision making across the benefits realisation portfolio.
  • To deliver presentations to staff groups at all levels on progress within the projects including, where appropriate, delivering training on changes to practice/new ways of working.
  • The post holder will be required to have regular contact with internal and external stakeholders on a range of projects as governance lead.
  • Contribute to writing and implementing Trust wide policies and SOPs that impact in own area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that robust governance structures are in place as part of any project plan.
  • Identify training and development requirements and develop plans to ensure that these are met as appropriate.
  • Contribute to risk registers where project risks need to be escalated.
